Boardwalk @ The Embankment

Location: The Embankment Laira, Plymouth
Year: 2019
Client: Plymouth University - Plymouth City Council

The Embankment Regeneration project is a key component of a larger collective effort aimed at revitalizing the Laira area, particularly the old train depot. This ambitious initiative seeks to transform the depot into a vibrant out-of-town performance venue, breathing new life into the space and providing a dynamic cultural hub for the surrounding community.

As an integral part of this regeneration, the project also includes the development of the embankment boardwalk and a cycle hub. These elements have been thoughtfully designed to serve as vital links between Plymouth's bustling city center and the serene expanses of Dartmoor National Park. The boardwalk provides a scenic, accessible pathway along the waterfront, encouraging both locals and visitors to engage with the natural environment.

The cycle hub further enhances this connection, offering a convenient and eco-friendly transportation option that seamlessly integrates urban life with outdoor recreation. Together, these features not only support the regeneration of Laira but also contribute to the broader goal of fostering connectivity, sustainability, and community engagement throughout the region.
